What skills have I gained on my course?

Employers are interested in the skills and competencies you gained from your degree, therefore it is important that you can recognise them and present them effectively on CVs and in interviews;

  • The ability to apply research, analysis and argument in order to explore the relationship between theory and practice
  • Communication using graphic, computing, photographic and verbal presentation techniques
  • Team working in order to plan and carry out a project
  • Physical and virtual model making skills
  • Interpersonal skills in order to engage with clients
  • The ability to synthesise aspects of architectural design from strategic thinking through to detailed design in a comprehensive project

Self Employment

Postgraduate Study

Postgraduate study may enable you to explore aspects of Architecture in greater depth, or to study a new subject. A post graduate qualification, either academic or vocational, is required to enter many fields of work related to Architecture such as surveying or civil engineering. You should consider why you want to do postgraduate study, whether it will affect your career prospects and whether you are likely to get funding.
